Renewing your certification

Every two years NCPTs must renew their certification. The two year period starts on the date of initial certification.

In order to renew your certification, please complete the three steps below in the following order:

1

Earn 16 CECs

The continuing education requirement involves earning 16 hours of NPCP-approved Continuing Education Credits (CECs).

After the CEC requirement has been satisfied, the Certification Renewal Application may be filled out.

Detailed information on CEC requirements can be found here.

2

Fill out the Certification Renewal Application

NCPTs must fill out a Certification Renewal Application.

NCPTs must submit copies of their CEC certificates with their Certification Renewal Application.

Detailed information on filling out the Certification Renewal Application can be found here.

3

Pay the Certification Renewal Fee

Payment is made upon submission of the Certification Renewal Application.

NOTE: Certification Renewal Fees are non-refundable.

Did you let your certification expire? Good news! We have a 6-month grace period.

The NPCP recognizes that at times there are circumstances that cause certificants to miss their certification renewal deadline. All certificants are allowed a 6-month grace period after their expiration to renew.

Options after certification expiration
During the 6 month grace period

Certificants may submit the Certification Renewal Application and pay a $75.00 late fee.

After the 6 month grace period

Certificants who want to obtain their certification after the 6-month grace period must reapply and retake the exam.
