Candidates that pass the NPCP certification exam are awarded the title of Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT).

The NPCP certification exam consists of 125, multiple choice questions. The exam is administered at testing centers worldwide on a computer (CBT) or online, with virtual proctoring in the comfort of your home/office. Candidates are allowed (3) hours to complete the exam and the passing score is 80.

IMPORTANT: The home/office option remains a proctored exam. Candidates must strictly follow the testing company's guidelines and conduct a system check. Please verify technology compatibility beforehand; it is the candidate's responsibility to ensure equipment compatibility prior to the test day as registration fee is nonrefundable.

The NPCP application is online. You will be redirected to the PSI Website to complete this application. Use a desktop computer. Accessing the application from a mobile device will cause connectivity issues with payment and scheduling. For details on testing, download and read the Candidate Handbook in its entirety. 

The online application is hosted on the PSI website. To access the application, you click “Start Your Application” below. You will be redirected to the PSI website where you will be prompted to create a login and provide the following:

- Your legal name as it appears on current official documents. Acceptable IDs in Latin alphabet: state issued driver's license, state issued identification card, government issued passport, passport card, green card, alien registration, permanent resident card, national identification card, and military ID. (Military ID accepted at Test Center ONLY).
- Your contact information
- Address - City - State or Province - Postal Code
- Contact name and email address of the school or mentor that provided comprehensive training

After providing all the necessary information, you will be prompted to make payment. After making payment you will have the option of scheduling your exam. You may choose to return to the application to schedule your exam at a later time by clicking the "Continue your Application" button below, signing in, and clicking "Register for This Exam" at the bottom of the page. It is extremely important that you read the Candidate Handbook provided on the application page in its entirety. Candidates are allowed one year to schedule their exam from date of payment.

Note: Application fees are nonrefundable.


Rescheduling Exam:
Candidates may cancel or reschedule an exam appointment without forfeiting their fee if notice is given 48 hours prior to the scheduled exam date by going here. Click "Reschedule this Exam" at the bottom of the page, sign in and follow the prompts. Candidates are given one year from the date of application submission to complete their exam.

Reasonable Accommodations:
Reasonable accommodations are provided for candidates who have any sort of impairment e.g., walking, talking, hearing, reading, performing manual tasks, etc. To apply for reasonable accommodations, the candidate must submit documentation provided within the past 12 months by a medical professional on the professional’s letterhead. The documentation must reference a diagnosis of the disability and specific recommendations for accommodations. Reasonable accommodations are considered based on the candidate’s request, disability, documentation submitted, and appropriateness of the request. Reasonable accommodations do not include steps that fundamentally alter the purpose or nature of the exam.

Our Test Administration Company:
PSI is the test administration company that provides psychometric consultation, test administration, test scoring, score reporting, and annual exam analysis. Additionally, the company hosts the online application, confirms eligibility, maintains the auditing system for candidate eligibility verification and maintains a candidate history file with all relevant materials, as well as secure database containing candidate pass/fail information, retake information and payment records.
